The Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Remake could be coming out in 2028. That’s based on what has been said by an executive at the game’s publisher Saber Interactive.
This week, the company announced that Steve Allison would be joining them as its Chief Business Officer. He’ll be overseeing the company’s marketing, publishing and revenue opportunities.
Allison has been in the video games industry for over three decades and most recently worked at Epic Games. Whilst he did not work on Fortnite, he was integral to the creation and launch of the Epic Game Store and the company’s third party publishing initiative.
Saber’s new CBO mentioned the KOTOR Remake in a response to a question from a fan. This was spotted by Reddit user. His wording seems to suggest that Saber Interactive will have the KOTOR Remake as part of their 2028 release schedule.
You can read Allison’s quote in full below:
“My job isn’t to squeeze money from sabers products through tactics like that. We are preparing to do more self publishing and I’m here to organize the group in preparation of the lineup forming for 2028 (like when I came to telltale in 2010, also no mtx company) that includes space marine, wick, hopefully kotor remake and a few unannounced titles. As a company saber has never pursued mtx it’s not how we do our products.
We sell the main game with a free dic plan for the community and may do paid dic (but can’t repeat the voice pack dic issue on sm2, the team learned a lot on that and before I started here). I didn’t work on Fortnite or Rocket League, but I did fund and oversee the launch of Alan Wale Remaster and Alan Wake 2 through the traditional 3rd part publishing team what was part of my group (also no mtx). There’s not a lot more for me to say than to assure you that’s not Sabers approach, or how I’m personally oriented leading publishing etc..Space Marine 3 is going to be all the things you love about 2 plus more that leans into the things you call out that you love about it.”

We’ll have to wait and see if this ends up being the release year for this long awaited game. If it does come out in 2028, it will have taken 7 years from its announcement to be in player’s hands. The current developer of the title is Mad Head Games and they are busy with a Hellraiser game due out later this year. Once that is out the door we should expect to see production on the remake ramp up.
In recent related news, a cinematic for the remake’s original version leaked online. You can check it out here.
