The Force is strong with this one. Star Wars Zero Company has launched to critical acclaim.
Reviews poured out on Wednesday for the latest EA Star Wars title which was developed by Bit Reactor in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment.
Zero Company has achieved a Meta Critic rating of 86 from 43 reviews on PC. From 7 XBOX reviews it is sitting at 87 and 85 on PS5 from 11 critics. On Open Critic, ZCOM has a rating of 88.
The PC Meta Critic score makes it the joint fourth highest rated Star Wars game of all time. It ties with Knights of the Old Republic II and comes just behind the original KOTOR, Jedi Knight II, Dark Forces 2 and Rogue Squadron 2. It’s in very good company, not zero. This may surprise some people but it’s also outscored both of Respawn’s Jedi games. Survivor got an 85 rating and it’s prequel is down at 79.
Based on this achievement, this game is going to be an instant classic. It’s clear that the game has received a lot of care and passion over the past several years.
Reviewers praised both the satisfying gameplay and incredible story. The sentiment around the narrative should not come as any surprise considering the game’s writer is Aaron Contreras who was the mastermind behind both Jedi Fallen Order and Survivor’s stories.
It’s still unknown how successful this game will be but early signs point towards it finding a good audience for something lower budget. As we’ve reported , it’s currently the best selling game on Steam and achieved a record high concurrent player count for a Star Wars game.
