With just a month to go before Star Wars The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theatres, the marketing has kicked up into lightspeed. Director Jon Favreau has done various interviews and has revealed the new film will connect to future content.
In a new video with Adam Savage, The Mandalorian and Grogu’s director and writer Jon Favreau took the VFX artist and content creator around various sets made for the film and the Disney+. During the set tour, Favreau answered questions from Savage relating to the upcoming film.
One thing that will stand out to fans is Favreau confirming that there will be some connections to the wider Star Wars canon and future projects. The director said his film will aim to keep the story clear and clean so non-Star Wars fans or those that have not seen The Mandalorian before can enjoy.
Additionally, those in the know can appreciate “the supporting cast, characters, the background, the details, the implications as it speaks to the larger story line.” He adds that the film does indeed have “clues” for Ahsoka season 2.
It will “speak to the bigger picture and the films to come that this fits into that timeline.” It will be interesting to see how the new blockbuster leaves us hints towards this year’s second season of Ahsoka and even more projects coming in the future.

The Mandalorian and Grogu goes into theatres worldwide on May 22nd. Tickets were put up for sale on Friday meaning fans can get their seat ahead of time. A new trailer was also released containing plenty of never-before-seen footage. Favreau also teased last night that there would be nearly an hour of IMAX-shot footage allowing for more action in-frame.
