We’re four months away from the release of the second and final season of Andor, and in the middle of Skeleton Crew airing week-to-week on Disney+, but despite that, Lucasfilm have already shared a plethora of promotional material in anticipation of the Rogue One prequel series.
In first piece of promotional material we received for the second season, the Disney+ 2025 sizzle reel, a group of Stormtroooers can be seen walking down some steps and towards a group of civilians. Upon seeing this footage, it reminded me of a scene I had heard about in Andor season two, though I can’t be sure if the scene in the footage and the one I heard about last year are one in the same, but it seems as if they could be.

Last year I was told of a scene shot for Andor season two that was described to me as feeling like Andor’s “no Russian”, a reference to an infamous scene from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. I was told of a location that had a cafe on one side which had Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor sitting in, there was also an alien with a lizard type creature as a pet, and a hotel possibly on the other. In the middle there were steps and in front of those steps were a group of civilians. Eventually Stormtroopers make their way down the steps and begin blasting those in front of them, killing the civilians.
I don’t know if it was in reference to this scene, but I was told by a single source that Tony Gilroy and the Andor writing team were taking real world inspiration for season two, just as they did for season one, and that one of the inspirations was the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
The second and final season of Andor is set to debut exclusively on Disney+ on April 22nd.
