The most watched Star Wars films and shows in the past year have been revealed. Some of the charts might surprise you. To celebrate Star Wars Day on May 4th, reputable analytics firm Nielsen via Variety have revealed some very interesting insights into Star Wars viewership over the past year or so.
Viewership Figures
Let’s start with an overview of 2025. This was the year that saw Episode III: Revenge of the Sith celebrate its 20th anniversary, Andor Season 2 and Skeleton Crew came out and more.
According to Nielsen, people in the United States of America watched 33 billion minutes (550 million hours) of Star Wars when combining TV and streaming in all of 2025.
Of that big multi-billion number, 44.2% of it came from the theatrical films. They made up the largest amount of minutes by category. That said, live action shows were not too far behind with 38.9%. Star Wars animation content accounted for 16.8%. (Note: this combined both animated films and shows.) The smallest type of content consumed was documentaries.

The Most Watched Star Wars Shows of 2025
Thanks to its second season last spring, Andor recorded 7.4 billion minutes. This was the most popular live-action of the calendar year. The top 3 most watched Star Wars shows in the US last year were as follows in this order:
- Andor
- Skeleton Crew
- The Mandalorian
The Most Watched Streamed Star Wars Projects on Star Wars Day 2025

Here’s a fun data set and top 10 chart: the most streamed Star Wars projects on Disney+ last May 4th. This was the day Tales of the Underworld came out. In total, 637 million minutes (10.6 million hours) were watched last Star Wars day. Below is the top 10 in order by minutes watched:
- Andor
- Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
- Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace
- Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
- Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
- Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones

Most Popular Among Age Groups
An interesting look into the demographics of Star Wars content has also been provided. Below are the Most Streamed Star Wars titles by generation. The data range is Q1 of 2026 so January 1st through March 31st. This is a good indicator as there was no big new Disney+ Star Wars release during this time frame. All of this is organic viewership among the various age groups.
- Gen Alpha (ages 2-13) – The Mandalorian
- Gen Z (ages 14-29) – Star Wars The Clone Wars
- Millennials (ages 30-45) – Andor
- Gen X (ages 46-61) – Andor
- Baby Boomers (ages 62-80) – The Mandalorian
