Star Wars Galactic Racer is shaping up to one of the most anticipated games of 2026 thanks to the gameplay and details released so far. There is a lot to look forward to. However, fans will be very disappointed to hear some news in terms of how podracers will work in the game among other things.
According to an FAQ on the official Star Wars Galactic Racer Discord Server, the game’s publisher Secret Mode has confirmed a number of things. One of the questions answered in there is “Are the podracers customizable?” Secret Mode’s answer to this is “The podracers are not customizable.” This means only the Skim Speeders, Landspeeders and Speeder Bikes can be changed both cosmetically and mechanically.
Another piece of info confirmed in this FAQ is that podraces will be limited to 8 players in online multiplayer. It was previously confirmed races with Skim Speeders, Landspeeders and Speeder Bikes can feature up to 12 players. This means podraces have 4 less players/vehicles on a circuit. Developers on the game have previously talked about the sheer size difference between the podracers and other vehicles. The speed of the vehicles must certainly differ in a sizeable way for this separation to occur.
“We’ve shown podracers, but these things are like seven or eight meters long and they’re enormous…”
Creative Director Kieran Crimmins

Those looking to take things to the next level in terms of immersion will also be left empty handed. Fuse Games currently have no plans to introduce support for steering wheels, HOTAS/HOSAS, full haptics, or resistance in Star Wars Galactic Racer. This follows no VR or PSVR2 support either.
As for when we’ll hear more about Star Wars Galactic Racer, we can expect some hands-on impressions in July. That’s according to gaming insider and Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb who checked out the game at Summer Games Fest. So it seems journalists who played the game there will be able to talk about their experience next month.
In other recent news, we got new screenshots and a gameplay trailer last week. Learn more here.
