Star Wars Fate of the Old Republic has found its writer and narrative director. It has been almost a year since Arcanaut Studios was formed by KOTOR director Casey Hudson and only half of that time have we known about the existence of their first game. Since the game’s reveal back in December, so many key staff hires have taken place.
Hudson has brought on former colleagues that helped him craft the original Knights of the Old Republic game as well as newcomers to the group who have earned much recognition in their field.
The game is set to be a true narrative RPG and a key part of that are the members of the narrative team. Now two of the people who’ll be having a big part in creating the game’s story have shared they have joined Arcanaut Studios.
“We’re united in purpose, with a desire to live and breathe Star Wars and return to this beloved galaxy for a new adventure.”

FOTOR Narrative Director
First spotted by FRVR, Tony Elias has been selected to be the game’s narrative director. Prior to joining Arcanaut Studios, he had been working on the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel as a senior writer for over a year. Before that, he had been at Hudson’s previously company, Humanoid Origin, as the lead writer. Based on this info we can see he and Casey among others liked working together. Other past work includes being the narrative the director for Middle-Earth: Shadow of War and the cancelled Wonder Woman game at Monolith plus Quantum Break with Remedy.
“I’ll be working with Casey Hudson and a wonderful team of new and familiar faces on Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic — the spiritual successor to KOTOR. “
FOTOR Writer

Another discovery by FRVR is that one of Star Wars Fate of the Old Republic’s writers will be sci-fi author Jenny “J.S.” Dewes. On her Linkedin, the writer said she is “excited” to confirm her move to Arcanaut Studios. Dewes had been a writer at Hudson’s Humanoid Origin before its shut down followed by Ghost Story Games. Dewes has written a number of novels herself too.
“I’m honored to be rejoining Casey Hudson and this incredible team (of both new friends and old!) to bring Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic to life!”
