Star Wars Starfighter has found its editor and it is someone who has already worked on the franchise before. The upcoming film starring Ryan Gosling and directed by Shawn Levy is quickly becoming Star Wars fans’ most anticipated project following all the little bits of information we’ve learned from people such as the actor and director at its helm.
In an update to the film during its post production phase, we now know who will be editing it. Reddit user bepetd spotted that Adam Gerstel’s résumé lists him as being the editor for 2027’s Star Wars Starfighter.
Gerstel has edited a number of big budget productions such as Lilo Stitch and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Also, Starfighter will not be his introduction to Star Wars. The editor took on the iconic episodes from The Mandalorian Season 2, The Marshal and The Rescue.

Despite previously working on Star Wars (even if in a TV capacity), some people on social media are worried about this editor choice for the film. They point to his work on the Ant-Man film and Transformers: The Last Knight as a way to dismiss him for Starfighter.
Regardless what some people think, he has worked on big action movies and Star Wars Starfighter is shaping up to be one for the ages. Ryan Gosling called one scene from the film “one of the most fun” of his entire career.
Below is a list of media Adam Gerstel has edited over the past decade or so:
- Lilo & Stitch (2025)
- Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023, Co-Editor)
- The Mandalorian (2020) – Edited “Chapter 9: The Marshal” and “Chapter 16: The Rescue”
- The Lion King (2019, Co-Editor)
- Transformers: The Last Knight (2017, Co-Editor)
- The Jungle Book (2016, Co-Editor)
- Bravetown (2015)
Earlier in his career, Gerstel worked in various VFX roles for other blockbusters. These include:
- Star Trek Into Darkness (2013, Previs Editor/In-House VFX Supervisor)
- Real Steel (2011, VFX Editor)
- Shutter Island (2010, VFX Editor)
- Avatar (2009, Pipeline Development Editor)
