Star Wars The Mandalorian and Grogu continues its abysmal run at the box office. The film will most certainly miss some milestones that all other Star Wars films have achieved and leaving a stain on the franchise’s storied theatrical history.
It is being reported by various outlets including Deadline that The Mandalorian and Grogu has now earned $315.1 at the box office globally. The film achieved just $4.7m at the weekend domestically and $11.8 globally. That is a 53.1% drop over last weekend in the US. A surprise to many is that this is a far greater drop than Solo during the same time frame. Nearly 700 theatres stopped showing the film on Friday due to the falling ticket sales.
At its current trajectory, The Mandalorian and Grogu will be the first live-action Star Wars film in history to miss the $200m mark domestically. It should be in the region of $180 million when it ends its theatrical run soon.

Indie horror film Obsession has now beaten out the Star Wars films domestic tally at the box office. This is something few could have predicted. Although Obsession still trails The Mandalorian and Grogu internationally at this moment in time.
No matter what some people on social media are saying, you can’t fan math out of this one. The desire for people to turn up and watch a Star Wars film has been diminished. This is not a good look for the franchise.
Given the huge drop-off week on week, the film will be pressed to earn more than $330m before it makes its way onto Disney+. Unfortunately for those Din Djarin and Baby Yoda fans, the film will not make a profit. It won’t even break even. It will lose Disney money.
We’ll have to wait and find out to see what fate the house of mouse gives these characters. Will they go on the shelf and collect dust much like Boba Fett or will they attempt to finish their story? Only time will tell. Thankfully for Star Wars fans Star Wars Starfighter will be blasting into cinemas next May.
