Adam Driver has revealed that The Hunt For Ben Solo will remain dead and he won’t return as the titular character within the Star Wars galaxy. This comes after fans raised money for billboards and other stunts in hope that the recently appointed Disney and Lucasfilm CEO’s take notice to bring the Steven Soderbergh-directed project to life.
During a new episode of The Rich Eisen Show, Eisen quizzed Driver over Kylo Ren/Star Wars. The actor was pretty adamant in the exchange that he’s done with Star Wars and playing Kylo Ren/Ben Solo. Despite a lot of working going into The Hunt For Ben Solo, it was never greenlit by Disney and Driver says he’ll take its plot to his grave as the “ship has sailed” on the project.
One of the more interesting aspects of what Driver told Eisen this week was its limited production budget. Ben Solo himself claims the film was going to be “shot cheap” likely in an attempt to win over Disney’s former leadership team. Driver also praised fans for their efforts to show Disney they want it; he seemed genuinely happy that happened.

The whole conversation worth checking out so you can read the full transcript below:
RE: “In all seriousness though, are you done playing Kylo Ren?”
AD: “Yeah, yeah.”
RE: “It’s over?”
AD: “Yeah. It’s over.”
RE: “No more Star Wars for you?”
AD: “No more Star Wars. We tried. We tried. We tried to do one more. But they were like no he’s dead.”
RE: “These things you can make anything up…”
AD: “I know. Yeah. We worked on it. And Soderberg was going to do it. Steven Soderberg. We worked on it for a few years really and earnestly for two years. We got a script together that was really good with Scott Burns and Rebecca Blunt and Sodberg and I and we all worked on it. It was awesome. It was really cool. But, you know, I don’t get to decide.”
RE: “What if somebody comes along and says, ‘Let’s resurrect that.'”
AD: “If they wanted to, but I’m not…if they wanted to, fine. But we’re not…It’s not our call. I think the ship has sailed though. The fans response to it though was pretty incredible. That I didn’t expect that it was going to be billboards and and people flying planes over Disney and things like that. That was pretty cool.
And the idea that how he [Steven Soderbergh] was going to shoot it was going to be cheap. Like not cheap like it was going to be shitty. It was going to be very produced, but the way that we were going to make it, we’re like, ‘Okay, how do we do it uh for, you know, cheaper? Would he even get to that stage?’
RE: “Have you um ever revealed what this the plot was?
AD: “No, no, no.”
RE: “Do you wish to do that?”
AD: “No. No. I think I’ll just hold on to it and then die with it.”
RE: “That sounds so final.”
AD: “Yeah.”
This follows Steven Soderbergh himself shooting down any chance of a revival for the project. We’ve seen a major shake up within the leadership at both Lucasfilm and Disney and neither party seems keen to revisit the idea despite Kathleen Kennedy pushing for it prior to her exit.
