The Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Remake could get a proper unveiling later this year according to a reputable insider. Whilst plans could shift for a focus on the franchise’s 50th anniversary, the game is making progress and is charting a course to release.
It has been almost 5 years since the KOTOR Remake was announced and has undergone development turmoil. We are still yet to get anything truly official other than a CG teaser trailer that came with its announcement. Last week, we reported on how a Saber Interactive exec suggested the KOTOR Remake will come out in or by 2028. Now insider 100% Star Wars has given us a timeline for a reveal.
In case you have not heard of this content creator before, he has shared plenty of KOTOR Remake scoops over the past several years. Most recently the insider said he was “extremely impressed” from what he has seen of the KOTOR Remake in development at Mad Head Games and Saber Interactive. 100% Star Wars says that he was made aware a reveal for the game is planned for this year, 2026. That is the current plan. That said, he does consider that things could change especially with Star Wars Celebration taking place next April. A release in late 2027 or 2028 is now looking more and more likely. Assuming nothing major hinders production.
Progress Report
100% Star Wars also shared some good news about the project’s development:
“I know about the extremely positive development cycle since the game has been at Saber since 2023. Development on the game has not only been ramping up, but it’s been going extremely smoothly over the past 3 years since Saber started from scratch. They’ve been hiring some extremely high-end talent from across the industry and Saber is very much a unified front when it comes to the development of this game with resources and talent being pulled from all over the company.”
