The leading man of the hit Hulu series, The Bear, Jeremy Allen White, has reportedly been cast as the voice of Rotta the Hutt in the next Star Wars theatrical release, the first since 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, in the form of The Mandalorian and Grogu, the feature film follow-up to the hit three season Disney+ series.
Before we continue with the article, I’d just like to share that you can now find Bespin Bulletin on Blue Sky. Also, if you’re feeling generous due to the holiday spirit and are a fan of Bespin Bulletin, you could support my work by tipping via Ko-Fi or my becoming a Patreon member – we’ve been losing subscribers as of late. Any support would be greatly appreciated. The site has not been doing well, I haven’t been paid for most of the year, and Patreon numbers have been dwindling. So if you feel like helping me and the site out, that would be greatly appreciated. Anyway, on with the news!
The initial report came from TheInseider in his newsletter and he also shared the information on The Kristian Harloff Show on YouTube. The report from Jeff Sneider was later being backed up by the Hollywood trades such as Deadline. Sneider revealed that Allen-White would voice Rotta the Hutt, probably an unexpected addition for fans to the Jon Favreau directed flick.

I was told a week ago that Rotta the Hutt would feature prominently in The Mandalorian and Grogu by a single source and was asked to not share the information publicly until a later date. I did ask other sources, but got no word back. Though I did not know who would be voicing Rotta. However, I was told that he looks sort of…buff. For once it wasn’t my own procrastination that cost me a scoop, which has happened many, many times.
Rotta the Hutt first appeared in the 2008 animated Star Wars: Clone Wars movie and is the son of Jabba the Hutt.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is due to release in theatres on May 22nd, 2026.
