Furloughed Star Wars Zero Company Devs Return to Work on The Game

Good news reaches a galaxy far far away as previously furloughed developers behind the hit game, Star Wars: Zero Company are being brought back to work at Bit Reactor, as per studio head Greg Foertsch.

Star Wars: Zero Company, the tactical combat game well received by fans of the franchise, which launched August 27th of this year, has an estimated one million copies sold across all platforms. Bit Reactor, the Maryland based studio behind the game, announced today that developers are returning to work on the game since most of the team had been furloughed back in August:

“This week, we started the process of returning more of our team back to work at Bit Reactor, an important step forward in our continued support for Zero Company.

Having to ask team members to step away after we navigated unexpected business developments outside of our control and so close to launch was an incredibly difficult decision, but one that was necessary to help us eventually bring as many people back as possible.

This team means a tremendous amount to me, and I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together. Thank you to our fans for the incredible response to the game and for supporting us along this journey. We look forward to sharing more updates regarding Bit Reactor and Zero Company soon.”

    Greg Foertsch, CEO, Bit Reactor

Many fans were left skeptical and questioning the decision to furlough developers before launch after the game’s reception and total sales. As per one of Bespin Bulletin’s prior reports, Star Wars: Zero Company landed itself as one of the most highly rated games in the franchise’s history.

According to GameFile, more than half of the studio’s headcount prior to the furloughs are now back at work. That still leaves a sizable amount of staff without pay but at least a significant number have returned.
